What is included in a catamaran charter in Croatia?

Active Cruises7 min read

The weekly price covers the boat and its equipment. Cleaning, linen and dinghy come in a Comfort package (600–1.000 €). Captain, hostess, fuel, marinas, food and tourist tax are extra.

A catamaran charter price in Croatia covers the boat and its equipment for the week. Cleaning, linen and the dinghy come in a Comfort package (600–1.000 €), and a captain (1.600 €) or hostess (1.400 €) is a weekly extra.

During the week you pay marinas (50–200 € a night), fuel (about 300 € a week), food and drinks, and a small tourist tax. I’m Miha and I write the offers at Active Cruises. Every one of these lines is in the offer before you pay anything.

“Our own boats” means the Lagoon 43, 46, 47 and 51. The weekly boat prices are in how much a catamaran charter in Croatia costs. They are per boat, not per person.

What the boat price includes

You get the boat ready to sail for the week, with the standard equipment on it.

That is a coffee machine, an equipped kitchen, several fridges, hot water and electric toilets. There’s a cockpit shower, cushions all around and a sound system with outdoor speakers. Sails, winches and gas bottles too.

Safety gear is included: life vests, a liferaft, a fire extinguisher and distress signals. The Lagoons in our fleet from the 42 up have a generator, air conditioning in all rooms and a watermaker, so you can stay at anchor without going to a marina for water.

On our own boats you also get 2 SUP boards, snorkelling gear and a hands-on sailing course if you want to learn. You can use our private buoy in Bol on Brač too. The boats are new or nearly new: Lagoon 43 from 2025, Lagoon 51 from 2026, and the Lagoon 47 is a 2027 model.

The Lagoon 43, 46 and 47 check in on Friday at no extra cost. You leave a day before the Saturday rush, and the first anchorage, the Blue Lagoon on Drvenik, is almost empty.

The Comfort package, line by line

The Comfort package covers the things you’d otherwise sort out yourself. It is 700 € per week on most boats, 600 € on the Lagoon 38, 900 € on the Lagoon 51 and 1.000 € on the Lagoon 65. On the Lagoon 55 Lady M it’s included.

Dinghy with motorYour ride to beaches, konobas and town quays

Don’t skip the dinghy. Without it, a night at anchor means swimming ashore for dinner.

Captain and hostess

A captain is 1.600 € per week, or 1.800 € on the Lagoon 51. You need one if nobody in your group has a recognised sailing licence plus a VHF certificate. Check your licence against the Croatian Ministry of the Sea list.

The captain sails the boat, picks bays that suit the wind and phones ahead to book tables ashore. If you want to learn, he teaches you as you go. Our captains are Igor, Josip, Mauro, Jon, Žan and Ante. If you want proper lessons, look at our sailing school with Igor Stropnik.

A hostess is 1.400 € per week, or 1.600 € on the Lagoon 65. She does the shopping, cooks breakfast and lunch on board and keeps the boat tidy. Dinner is usually ashore.

Her work is in the price. The food isn’t. You pay for groceries and drinks as you would at home.

On the Lagoon 55 Lady M, captain and hostess are both in the weekly price.

Tips

Not required. Many guests leave 5–10 % if they were happy with the week.

What is an APA?

APA means advance provisioning allowance. On big crewed yachts, guests pay an extra sum before the trip, and the captain uses it during the week for running costs such as food, drinks, fuel and marinas. The unused part is usually settled at the end.

If an APA applies to your boat, we tell you in the offer.

Costs you pay during the week

These depend on how you sail, so they are never a fixed line in the offer.

Marinas and buoys usually cost 50–200 € per night. Anchoring is free, and many konobas give you free mooring if you eat there.

Fuel is usually about 300 € per week. A week with wind and short hops can come in under that.

Food and drinks are yours, on board and ashore.

Tourist tax is a small tax for the boat. The exact amount is in your offer.

Security deposit and payment

With our captain the security deposit is 0 €. Bareboat, it depends on the boat, from 2.000 €. You pay it at the base by card or cash, and it comes back after check-out.

You pay 30–50 % at booking and the rest 30 days before check-in. We take IBAN transfer, US checking accounts, cards, PayPal and crypto.

You deal with me the whole way, from the first question to check-in. I know every boat and every captain, so if something in the offer isn’t clear, you ask one person and get a straight answer. Ashley, who sailed our Lagoon 46, wrote: “Thank you Miha for the quick responses to all of our questions leading up and making the booking process so simple.”

These go on top of the boat price and are booked with the offer.

A one-way to Dubrovnik is possible, but I don’t recommend it for a first trip. The passages are long, and Dubrovnik is about three hours by taxi from the base.

FAQ

Is fuel included in a catamaran charter in Croatia?

No. You pay fuel during the week, usually about 300 € per week. Sailing more and motoring less keeps it down.

Do I have to tip the crew?

No. Many guests leave 5–10 % if they were happy with the week. It’s your choice.

Who pays for the crew’s meals?

We agree this with you in the offer, so it’s settled before you book and not discussed on board.

Is there an APA on Active Cruises boats?

An APA is an advance sum for running costs that some big crewed yachts ask for. If one applies to your boat, we tell you in the offer.

Is the Comfort package the same on every boat?

The contents are the same: documents, cleaning, linen, towels, dinghy with motor, essentials and marina eco fee. The price depends on the boat, from 600 € on the Lagoon 38 to 1.000 € on the Lagoon 65. On the Lagoon 55 Lady M it’s included.

Send me your dates on WhatsApp or through the booking page. I’ll send an offer with every line written out.
