A small town with big-hearted people who will gladly sit next to you on a dock and share stories of their rich cultural heritage.

Day 7, back to Split
Enjoy a leisurely sail on the way back to the marina, with a stop at a breathtaking clear water lagoon.
With its seafront cafés and ancient alleyways, shouting stallholders and travellers on the move, bustling, exuberant SPLIT is one of the Mediterranean’s most compelling cities. It has a unique historical heritage too, having grown out of the palace built here by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in 295AD. The palace remains the city’s central ingredient, having been gradually transformed into a warren of houses, tenements, churches and chapels by the various peoples who came to live here after Diocletian’s successors had departed. Lying beyond the Roman/medieval tangle of central Split lie suburban streets full of palms and exotic plants, followed by stately rows of socialist-era housing blocks that look like something out of a modernist architectural stylebook.
Nearly everything worth seeing in Split is concentrated in the compact Old Town behind the waterfront Riva, made up in part of the various remains and conversions of Diocletian’s Palace itself, and the medieval additions to the west of it. You can walk across this area in about ten minutes, although it would take a lifetime to explore all its nooks and crannies.
- Visit the Diocletian’s Palace
- Wine tasting at Putaly Winery
- Explore the Old Split
- Walk down the famous Split’s riva
- It is you last night – So eat at some fancy place or party till sunrise

Just a quick note to let you know we had a fantastic cruise with IGOR. Everything went according to plan and we felt in good hands. Igor is very amiable and a super captain.
The boat and crew were fantastic, being able to visit the islands and see the little villages was amazing, we also had a great crowd on board from various countries who were all very friendly, would recommend this cruise, and will go again in the future.
You can not do special things with ordinary people 🙂 The most beautiful moments never happened in our dreams. For me, Active Cruise means escape from everyday routine to sea, sun and wind – freedom and pure pleasure.
Live, laugh, love, 🙂
A fantastic week that exceeded expectations! The Catamaran was perfect as we spent the week with an awesome bunch of people and all had a great time. Skipper was great and the excursions super fun. Highlight of our trip to Dalmatia!

Igor was a FANTASTIC skipper to have on board and we had so much fun getting to know him! He showed us some amazing spots, let us learn as much as we wanted sailing, and made everyone feel safe and comfortable. We can’t imagine a better fit for our family, the trip wouldn’t have been the same with anyone else! Thank you Miha for the quick responses to all of our questions leading up and making the booking process so simple. Would 100% recommend!
Trips with the Active Cruises are always full of fun! Meeting new interesting people, relaxed atmosphere and never ending activities with experienced skipper is an unforgettable experience every time! Keep up the good work! :=)
We are back in Israel… even the 120 stairs we had to climb in Dubrovnik’s old city to arrive to our rooms, packed with 4 pieces of luggage and 5 super excited girls couldn’t take the smile out of our faces. We just had an amazing time on the boat. It was much above our expectations and you two just played a huge role in our successful holidays. Your patience and kindness with the kids meant a lot to us. All our needs were anticipated so we could just relax and enjoy. We are seriously thinking of renewing the experience next year.
Croatia is one of the most beautiful country I have ever visited, not to mention Active Cruise went above and beyond with making our experience the best it possibly could have been! Skipper Igor gave us the best Croatian experience I could have ever imagined for. We had the most fun week. read more
Just a note to thank you for a lovely week on Mala Kate with Igor. All the arrangements worked well and we were pleased how soon Igor was able to pick us up from Zaton last Sunday – we know he put in a massive effort to sail through most of the night and we really appreciate it! The boat was great and very luxurious – it was everything we had hoped for and just as you described it. The wifi was very strong which the girls appreciated and the luxury extras were very welcome.
As for Igor, he was a fantastic skipper, host and guide. It was a pleasure chatting with him about his sailing adventures and having him join us for dinner at some of his favorite restaurants. We always felt safe and comfortable under his professional eyes, and he looked after the boat very well. We would happily recommend Active Cruises, Mala Kate and Igor to anybody thinking of a chartered cruise, and hope to return again in the future.
I would especially like to compliment the beginner course with Alex. He is an instructor that adapts the course to physical condition, acquired knowledge and desires of a student. He has great pedagogical approach, patient and clear explanations with great motivational techniques. Student can really enjoy and progress very fast. All compliments to Alex and thanks for a great course!
Just to give you a feedback on our cruise, we had a great time thanks to Blaze who is a very good skipper nice and gentle. Thanks to his knowledge of Croatian island we have seen marvelous landscapes, bays and had very good time and food in all restaurants, and I think it was the same for him.
